Alanya - Red Tower (Kızılkule)

Red Tower (Kızılkule): 


Located in Alanya district of Antalya and Alanya Castle tower, one of the city's landmarks.

Red Tower is the Alanya Harbour. Octagonal structure is the symbol of the city is the 13th century Seljuk. In 1226 the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Aleppo Keykubad structure by which the Sinop Castle craftsman Ebu Ali Reha el Kettani was built.

After a certain height during construction of the upper part because it is difficult to remove the stone blocks made of red bricks and has taken so Kızılkule name. The tower is seen on the walls of ancient marble. The height of the tower is octagonal in shape and each wall is 12.5 meters wide, 33 meters, a diameter of 29 meters. There are five floors including the ground floor. Top of the tower and the 85-digit high intermittent steps to go. Sunlight from the top of the tower reaches up to the first floor. There is a cistern in the middle of the tower.
